Service Description

Hair transplantation is a well-established and reliable surgical option for restoring hair, beard, moustache, or eyebrows when clinically appropriate and when sufficient donor hair is available. Suitability is determined during a face-to-face consultation, allowing your surgeon to assess scalp health, donor hair density, and long-term hair loss patterns. The minimum hair transplant procedure we offer is 400 follicular units (FUs), roughly 1,000 hairs (each FU contains on average 2–3 hairs), covering approximately 10 cm². Most patients require around 1,000 FUs (~2,200 hairs), covering a larger area of roughly 30 cm². The exact number of FUs required depends on the size of the area, existing hair density, and treatment goals. Larger areas, such as balding crowns or diffuse thinning, may require more extensive procedures. We offer several Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) techniques tailored to patient preference and clinical suitability: Long Hair FUE (No-Shave / Preview Transplantation) – hair is transplanted without shaving. Partial-Shave FUE – only the donor area is shaved. Traditional Fully Shaved FUE – donor and recipient areas shaved for maximum visibility. For shaved procedures, a number-zero haircut (≈0.5 mm) is recommended the day before surgery. On the day of surgery, wearing a button-up shirt is advised. All procedures are performed in our fully equipped surgical suite by New Zealand-born, locally trained, permanently Auckland-based surgeons, who are directly involved in donor harvesting, graft preparation, and implantation, ensuring continuity of care. A face-to-face consultation is required prior to booking surgery. During the consultation, your surgeon will: Assess your scalp and donor hair health Review prescription-only medical treatments where appropriate Discuss the most suitable FUE technique Provide an individualised treatment plan and quotation All surgical quotations are valid for six months. Prices are inclusive of GST and cover the operating theatre fee and the set follow-up consultations. Additional surcharges may apply for credit card payments or surgery outside standard hours.
